As an independent Swiss family business, Reichle & De-Massari AG (R&M), Wetzikon (ZH), have now chalked up more than 40 years' experience in the information and communication technology market. The firm concentrates on the development and manufacture of future-oriented passive cabling solutions for communications networks (Layer 1).
Outstanding products in the copper and fiber optics domain have won R&M a reputation as leaders in quality who always provide added value. R&M solutions set standards for modularity as well as convenience of installation and maintenance.
R&M have won market leadership in Switzerland, and are present in 16 further countries with their own subsidiaries and agencies so called MOs (marketing organisations). In many other countries around the world, customers are looked after by well qualified marketing partners. 70% of R&M’s turnover comes from abroad (139 million CHF in 2004), 8% more than the year before and this is a rising tendency.
The innovative power of the firm is shown clearly in the amount dedicated to R&D. Every year, R&M invest about 6% of turnover in research and development. Today, 20 per cent of R&M’s turnover comes from products that are less than three years old. The company are the holders of many patents. For the most part, development work is centred on specific new customer requirements.
The firm's specific experience and competence lie in the manufacture of connection and distribution technology for copper and fiber optics networks. On the basis of these technologies, R&M have concentrated their efforts on four business fields: carrier, enterprise, industrial and residential cabling. Historically, R&M are at home in the carrier market. Nowadays, the firm attends to the many WAN and MAN operators, traditional national and international telecoms companies, Citycarrier and railway companies.
Tailor-made solutions for collocation, connectivity, maximum operating security and fiber to the building are in the foreground here, just as much as in the other three segments.
Enterprise cabling is directed towards high-quality, future-oriented and security-related cabling systems that offer the integration of voice, data, video, fiber to the desk and building automation. In the field of industrial cabling, R&M develop solutions to the tough requirements imposed on connection and distribution technology. These include resistance to mechanical stresses and protection against environmental effects. In the area of residential cabling, R&M offer convenient solutions for residential, home office and workplace environments, meeting network and multimedia requirements in compact form.
R&M employ more than 500 staff, and the company is owned 100% by the Reichle family. Martin and Peter Reichle are the second-generation leaders of this dynamic firm, guaranteeing further and progressive development of their innovative product range with its claim to satisfy the highest quality criteria.
